If you follow us on Twitter (www.twitter.com/americanlanyard), you will see occasional postings on unique ways to use a lanyard. These suggestions are memorable, one-of-a-kind, and guaranteed to be a hit. Here are some more exceptional ways to use a lanyard that will benefit you, your organization, your coworkers, the environment, the economy, and your bank account (read on for discount details!).

Make a Fashion Statement

Know an aspiring designer who is anxiously awaiting their big break into the fashion world? Sponsor a fashion show for them, and make sure all of the VIP attendants wear your lanyards! If you’ve read about our fashion lanyards, you know how stylish they can be, so they will fit in perfectly with the event! Order custom lanyards imprinted with your company logo and watch as all the show-goers pay attention to the clothing AND your lanyards.

Go on a Field Trip

Many colleges and universities have already caught on to the lanyard trend. Why not introduce them to your elementary school? When children go on field trips, it’s always a hassle to keep track of their belongings, more specifically their money for lunch or certain odds and ends. An imprinted lanyard with your elementary school’s name and logo would be a perfect way for each student to carry their own money and important information in case of emergencies. Not to mention, the lanyard could double as a name badge so chaperone parents can distinguish each student.

Wine and Dine

Do you manage a winery? Lanyards could be the perfect addition to your business. As patrons roam the orchards and admire the grounds of your vineyard, they typically bring along a few bottles of wine for the journey. A custom lanyard imprinted with your winery’s name could be the perfect tool for your patrons. Add an attachment that holds a wine opener, and you’ve just created a must-have for the vineyard experience. Not much of a wine connoisseur? Skip the wine and dine and have some beers and cheers at your brewery with a custom lanyard equipped with a bottle opener.

Network

If you’ve ever hosted a networking event, you know how chaotic it can become. Business cards can be seen wherever you look, and sometimes it’s difficult to keep track of them. A lanyard would be the perfect tool for the job. Buy our custom lanyards imprinted with your networking event or trade show name. Then sell them or hand them out at the door to all participating members, and watch as the lanyards become an instant business card holder. It’s a great way to promote your networking group while giving your members an ideal tool to store their connections.

Find any of these ideas intriguing? Mention “UNIQUEIDEAS” in your request for a quote and we’ll give you 15% off your entire lanyard purchase. Make sure to follow us on Twitter for more great ideas on how to use a lanyard!

Nature Bottles

We’d like to introduce you to a very special member of our family. It’s our sister, Nature Bottles!

As you know, American Lanyard is passionate about protecting the environment and lending a hand to humankind. These passions don’t stop with lanyards! Our team of marketing experts has launched American Lanyard’s sister site, Nature Bottles, in hopes to continue our goal of saving the planet through promotional products.

Nature Bottles offers a wide range of BPA-free stainless steel and aluminum drinking containers for your marketing and promotional needs. In an effort to stay earth-friendly, we have created these bottles in hopes of reducing the amount of plastic that ends up in landfills. Did you know that on average, Americans buy 29.8 billion plastic water bottles every year? Eight out of every ten of those bottles end up in a landfill. However, if we reduce the amount of plastic bottles we buy, reuse aluminum and stainless steel drinking containers from Nature Bottles, and recycle the plastics we have, we can make a difference and decrease those numbers. That’s Nature Bottles’ motto: reduce, reuse, recycle. Check out this Britannica video to see what happens when you recycle your plastic bottles.

Much like our lanyards, our reusable bottles can be branded with your company logo and used as a promotional product to increase brand awareness. These products would be perfect for a green trade show event, a corporate gift to employees, an environmentally conscious sports team, an eco-friendly giveaway, and much more. We are truly proud to call Nature Bottles our sister site and we hope our eco-friendly lanyards and reusable bottles will show others the importance of being kind to our environment. Visit the Nature Bottles site to browse through our wide variety of earth-friendly bottles. Mention American Lanyard in your request for a quote, and receive 10% off your entire bottle order!

Earth-Friendly Lanyards

At American Lanyard, we understand how important it is to be good to our environment. For that reason, we have partnered with carbonfund.org in an effort to commit to a “green initiative.” However, our efforts do not stop there.

Our earth-friendly lanyards are perfect promotional tools that are both appreciated and recognized by environmentally conscious customers. Our line is made up of organic cotton, bamboo and recycled PET, our most popular earth-friendly material.

PET stands for Polyethylene Terephthalate, a material in the polyester family most commonly associated with the ordinary plastic water bottle. You may recognize it by the popular recycling symbol with a “1” inside of it that appears on the bottom of PET products. So what’s the process of going from a recycled water bottle to the material we use for our lanyards? Check out this video to watch the transformation.

Our recycled PET lanyards are made with 100% recycled materials. They are just as durable as our other products, and they come in a wide range of colors. We can even print your logo and colors using inks that are free of polyvinyl chloride to make a truly eco-friendly product. Used as promotional products, these lanyards are perfect for a green trade show, an eco-friendly organization, a non-profit event and more.

Interested in helping save the world with these promotional products? Mention RPETDISCOUNT in your request for a quote, and we’ll take 10% off your entire earth-friendly order.

Fashion Lanyards–The Best Accessory

Take a second, close your eyes and envision a lanyard. Odds are you didn’t envision it around the neck of a stylish fashionista.

For some reason, lanyards don’t exactly scream “trendy.” Maybe it’s the durability of the beast. Or perhaps the multi-functional aspect… after all, trendy necklaces aren’t exactly what you might call multi-functional. But in all honesty, why wear a necklace when you can wear a practical and chic lanyard?

We’d like to introduce you to American Lanyard’s fashion line: rhinestone, glitter, ribbon and lace. Looking for shine? Sparkle? Or maybe just a more feminine appeal? These materials create a whole new way of completing your look. They’re perfect for the diva in all of us.

Here are just a few ways to use our fashion lanyards:

Have a more feminine business, like a nail salon or a spa? Buy our custom lace lanyards with your logo on it and promote your brand in style! They can be used by employees, or given away to VIP customers.

Attention bridesmaids: order our custom rhinestone lanyards for all the girls at the bachelorette party! Imprint the date and the bride’s name for a surprise all the girls will love, especially the guest of honor!

Embrace woman strength and power, and order our custom glitter lanyards in pink for a fundraiser that supports breast cancer research. The glitter creates an extra feminine accent that showcases the beauty of determination and strength.

Our fashion lanyards can be a great asset to your business, brand or personal life. For information on discounted pricing for these stylish lanyards, simply mention FASHIONLANYARD in your request for a quote, and we’ll give you a deal that’s almost as beautiful as these lanyards.

Dye-Sublimation: What is it?

Ahh, there’s nothing better than the warm, crisp smell of a new lanyard straight out of the dye-sub printer. Perfect colors, flawless logo… bliss.

Well… maybe not bliss, but it certainly is exciting!  The question is; how did it reach such perfection? What processes did it go through before it landed around the neck of one of the millions of people who use lanyards?

In a previous post, we showed you a video of the making of an American Lanyard. Let’s go more in depth and discuss the concept of dye-sublimation: one of our most popular forms of printing lanyards.

Dye-sublimation… sounds kind of boring. Or scary. But it’s actually rather fascinating. We all learned about the process of sublimation in middle school science class (If not, quick tutorial: it’s the process of transforming from a solid directly to a gas). What does that have to do with printing lanyards? The printing process utilizes heat to transfer the dye directly onto the lanyard material. As the dye transfers, it transitions from a solid directly to a gas, foregoing the liquid stage completely. Pretty cool, huh? After being heated into a gas, the dye diffuses onto the lanyard and solidifies after cooling. After all of the colors are sublimated onto the lanyard, a thin laminate is applied on top to prevent resublimation and discoloration when exposed to warm temperatures.

So why use dye-sublimation (Aside from the fact that it is really cool)? The intricate process produces colors that appear exactly as they should and logos that are spot-on. This is a great way to stay 100% consistent with your brand image. With a product that looks flawless and a laminate coat that protects from damage, dye-sublimation sure does seem like bliss.

We want you to see the result of dye-sublimation first hand. Mention DYESUB in your request for a quote and receive 10% off our regular pricing for your entire dye-sublimated order!

Lanyards for a Cause

In an earlier blog post, we mentioned the idea of fundraising with lanyards. We wanted to take this initiative one step further and introduce lanyards for a cause: our proposed way of making a difference using lanyards.

There are many different foundations in need of support. We’ve all seen the pink ribbons that represent the fight against breast cancer, or the yellow ribbons that signify support for our troops. Countless other colors represent the struggle and fight against different diseases, battles and foundations. What better way to help these foundations than to increase awareness through lanyards?

Here is a list of multiple colors and the charities they represent (courtesy of TrinityLondon.com).

Pink: This color is a symbol of breast cancer awareness, birth parents, and childhood cancer awareness.

Yellow: This color is a symbol of supporting our troops, MIA/POW, suicide prevention, adoptive parents, amber alerts, bladder cancer, spina bifida, endometriosis, and a general symbol for hope. A yellow ribbon with a heart is used to represent the survivors left behind after a suicide.

Pale Yellow: This color is a symbol of spina bifida.

Red: Most commonly associated with the fight against AIDS and HIV, this color is also a symbol for heart disease, stroke, substance abuse, MADD, DARE, Epidermolysis Bullosa, and Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy.

Burgandy: This color is a symbol of brain aneurysm, Cesarean section, headaches, hemangioma, vascular malformation, hospice care, multiple myeloma, William’s syndrome, Thrombophilia, Antiphospholid Antibody Syndrome, and adults with disabilities.

Purple: This color is a symbol of pancreatic cancer, testicular cancer, thyroid cancer, domestic violence, ADD, alzheimer’s, religious tolerance, animal abuse, the victims of 9/11 including the police and firefighters, Crohn’s disease and colitis, cystic fibrosis, lupus, leimyosarcoma, and fibromyalgia

Lavender: This color is a symbol for general cancer awareness. It can also be a symbol for epilepsy, and rett syndrome.

Periwinkle: This color is a symbol of eating disorders and pulmonary hypertension.

Blue: This color is a symbol of drunk driving, child abuse, Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), the victims of hurricane Katrina, dystonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), alopecia, Education, Epstein-Barr Virus, Save the Music, colon cancer, colorectal cancer, and anti-tobacco.

Dark Blue: This color is a symbol of arthritis, child abuse prevention, victim’s rights, free speech, water quality, and water safety.

Light Blue: This color is a symbol of childhood cancer, prostate cancer, Trisomy 18, and scleroderma.

Teal: This color is a symbol for ovarian, cervical, and uterine cancers as well as sexual assault, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and tsunami victims.

Green: This color is a symbol of childhood depression, missing children, open records for adoptees, environmental concerns, kidney cancer, tissue/organ donation, homeopathy, and worker and driving safety.

Orange: This color is a symbol of leukemia, hunger, cultural diversity, humane treatment of animals, and self-injury awareness.

White: This color is a symbol of innocence, victims of terrorism, violence against women, peace, the right to life, bone cancer, adoptees, and retinal blastoma.

Pearl: This color is a symbol for emphysema, lung cancer, mesothelioma, and multiple sclerosis.

Black: This color is a symbol of mourning, melanoma, and gang prevention.

Brown: This color is an anti-tobacco symbol as well as a symbol of colon cancer, and colorectal cancer.

Grey: This color is a symbol of diabetes, asthma, and brain cancer.

Silver: This color is a symbol for children with disabilities, Parkinson’s disease, and mental illnesses such as severe depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and anxiety disorders.

Gold: This color is a symbol for childhood cancer.

Jigsaw: This style is a symbol for autism.

Lace: This style is a symbol for osteoporosis.

Pink and Blue: This style is a symbol for miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant death due to SIDS or other causes.

USA Flag: This style is a symbol for both the victims and heroes of the 9/11 attacks. It is also a symbol of patriotism and support of our troops.

Rainbow: This style is a symbol of gay pride and support for the GLBT community and their quest for equal rights.

Now that you have an extensive list to choose from, what’s next?

  1. Find a charity that you are passionate about.
  2. Order our custom lanyards in the color that represents your charity.
  3. Hold a fundraiser walk for your charity! Using the example method listed in our previous blog post. Have participants donate money for their lanyard, and turn in the profit to your foundation.

It’s that simple! YOU can easily make a difference. Start with lanyards for a cause.
